Daniel Carhart-Veres

Daniel Carhart-Veres joined Johns Hopkins University and the Office of the Provost in July 2024 as Director of Strategic Initiatives. In this role, he is a key member of the Provost’s Office leadership team, serving as a trusted advisor to the Provost’s Chief of Staff & Associate Vice Provost for Strategic Initiatives. Daniel supports institutional priorities with a focus on strategic execution, collaboration, and the development of high-impact initiatives and projects, including those aligned with the university’s strategic plan, Ten for One.

Working closely with the Office of the Provost, university administration, senior leadership, and stakeholders across the institution, Daniel helps advance university-wide priorities, as well as those specific to the Office of the Provost. He serves as a resource for Vice Provosts and their teams and acts as a strategic liaison with university and community constituencies.

Before joining Johns Hopkins, Daniel worked in the Provost’s Office at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, where he worked with leadership and the Board of Trustees to oversee special projects and events and lead provostial engagement initiatives.

Beyond his professional role, Daniel is dedicated to advocacy and community service. He volunteers with GLSEN and currently serves on the Maryland Board of Directors, having previously chaired the Massachusetts Board of Directors from 2022 to 2024.

Daniel holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor of Science from Arizona State University.
