Emily Henson joined Johns Hopkins University and the Office of the Provost in August 2024 as Director for Provost’s Communications. In this role, she is a member of the Provost’s Office central leadership team and serves as the key communications strategist for the Office of the Provost, developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies to support the Provost’s initiatives and priorities. She works in close collaboration with University Communications on internal and external messaging, crafting narratives that articulate our institutional vision. Emily is also the primary speechwriter for the Provost.
Before joining Johns Hopkins, Emily worked at Harvard University, where she served as Deputy Chief of Staff to the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, managing high-level communications and special projects. Her background includes extensive experience in executive communications, message development, and project management in higher education settings. Emily holds a BA in Religion from Furman University, an MA in Higher Education Administration from the University of Mississippi, and a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School.
