Janet Schreck

Senior Associate Vice Provost for Academic Affairs

Janet Simon Schreck, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, FNAP joined Johns Hopkins University in December 2015 as its inaugural Assistant Vice Provost for Education.  In this role, Schreck collaborates with the Vice Provost of Graduate and Professional Education and a broad cross-section of the campus community to identify cross-cutting goals and initiatives that improve undergraduate and graduate education. In addition, she directs academic compliance, institutional and learning assessment, and accreditation. Schreck serves as the Accreditation Liaison Officer to the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and the Institutional Academic Grievance Officer. She is a faculty member in the School of Education where she teaches and advises doctoral students in the Ed.D. program.

A licensed and certified Speech-Language Pathologist with a focus on neurogenic disorders in adults, Schreck has published multiple articles and delivered numerous national presentations on the topics of cognitive-communication changes associated with typical aging as well as screening, assessment, and treatment of cognitive-communication disorders associated with dementia. She is a Fellow of the Maryland Speech-Language-Hearing Association and a Distinguished Practitioner and Fellow in the National Academy of Practice.

Schreck earned her B.A. and M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from Loyola University Maryland and Ph.D. in Gerontology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
