Julianne Perretta joined the Provost’s office as the inaugural Executive Director of the Leadership, Advancement, and Development (L.A.D.) Academy in January 2024. In this role, she collaborates with stakeholders across the enterprise to design and execute meaningful and effective training to support faculty development at all career ranks and stages across the university.
Julie began her career at Johns Hopkins as a Neonatal Respiratory Therapist in JHH’s Neonatal ICU, realizing her passion for clinical education during bedside teaching of new clinical staff and pediatric residents. After taking an educational leadership role with JHH Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, she was recruited to help launch the Johns Hopkins Medicine Simulation Center (JHMSC), a collaborative effort between JHH and the JHU School of Medicine, where she specialized in the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of educational and assessment programs for JHU SOM, JHH, and JHHS, as well as collaborating with the Schools of Nursing, Public Health, Arts and Sciences, and Johns Hopkins International in building high quality needs-based, accessible, and scalable learning solutions. Prior to her role in the Provost Office, Julie was Director of Simulation Education and Innovation, where she directed the development, implementation, and assessment of a teaching portfolio serving a community of over 5,000 learners. She maintained the operations of the JHMSC during the COVID-19 pandemic, assuring safe continuation of mission-critical educational activities.
Julie received a BS in Respiratory Therapy from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an MS in Education from Johns Hopkins University. She has held faculty appointments in the Johns Hopkins University’s Schools of Medicine, Nursing, and Education, and Towson University’s College of Health Professions.
