Johns Hopkins Campus Climate Survey

In spring 2023, Johns Hopkins University administered a comprehensive climate assessment to better understand the living, learning, and working environment for students, post-doctoral scholars and residents, staff, faculty, and administrators. This marked an initial step toward fulfilling a commitment made in the Second JHU Roadmap on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to regularly conduct a universitywide climate survey and publish its results.

The survey was developed by the  Climate Survey Working Group, a diverse group of faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows, and students from across Johns Hopkins, in consultation with Rankin Climate, an external consultant with 20+ years of climate assessment experience at 250+ institutions. The survey was administered in accord with Homewood Institutional Review Board (HIRB) protocols.

All faculty, staff, students, post-doctoral scholars/fellows/residents, and senior administrators were invited to complete the confidential survey between March 21, 2023 and May 5, 2023. More than 10,800 surveys were returned for a universitywide response rate of 21%.

University leadership presented key findings from the survey to the campus community at a virtual meeting on April 25, 2024.

Current students, faculty, and staff can view the results of the survey at the Campus Climate Survey Key Findings Resource page, which include a key findings report, full report, presentation, and video recording. A JHED ID is required.

After logging in with your JHU credentials, the reports will be automatically viewable to you. This information is for internal use only, as it is proprietary information and not for publication or distribution.
