Lena Jackson

Career Development and Success Counselor, School of Education

Lena Jackson is the Career Development and Success Counselor for the School of Education (SOE). SOE’s Career Services office helps students clarify career goals, supports them through their academic programs, helps with resume, cover letter and interviewing skills and provides job search and networking strategies.   

Lena began her employment with JHU in 2018 as a College and Career Support Counselor and successively worked as a Project Site Coordinator. In her role as Project Site Coordinator she facilitated collaboration between JHU, local school districts and the Maryland Higher Education Commission establishing and managing data-driven initiatives for grant-based programs designed to promote positive student academic performance, leadership skills and college and career planning. Her role included overseeing recruitment, operations, and supervision of a highly effective team of college and career support counselors and tutors. 

Preceding her work at JHU Lena worked as an educational advocate, communications consultant, ADHD coach, professional school counselor and White House Policy Analyst. She is a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Certified MSDE Guidance Counselor. Lena earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from Bowie State University and her master’s degree in counseling from Johns Hopkins University.
