Starting in May of 2023, representatives from Johns Hopkins University and TRU-UE Local 197 began working together to establish a collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
After meeting more than 40 times, the teams from the university and the union reached an agreement. On April 17, 2024, PhD students who make up the bargaining unit voted to ratify the first contract.
