SSEI: Overview

What is SSEI?
The Student Services Excellence Initiative (SSEI) was launched by Johns Hopkins University in 2016 to improve academic and administrative services for students.

Initially focused on replacing an outdated student information system, SSEI shifted its focus to enhancing the overall student experience.

SSEI assessed six key areas: Recruitment & Admissions, Financial Aid, Billing, Registration, Advising, and Career Services & Alumni Tracking.

This initiative aims to optimize the student and faculty experience, streamline processes, embrace change, and make data-driven decisions.

SSEI covers a wide range of students, including those in undergraduate and graduate programs, credit-bearing and non-credit courses, and in-person and online programs.

What is the goal of this project?

The overarching goal of SSEI is to optimize services and technology to provide students with a seamless and positive administrative experience at Johns Hopkins University, helping them pursue their educational and professional goals while fostering alumni loyalty.

What are our guiding principles?

  • Prioritize the student and faculty experience
  • Streamline processes
